Humasis H.pylori Antigen Test is a one step in vitro diagnostic test based on an immunochromatographic assay. It is designed for detection of Helicobacter pylori antigen in human stool. Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a spiral-shaped gram-negative bacterium that is found in the gastric mucous layer or adherent to the epithelial lining of the stomach. H. pylori has shown to be a causative agent of type B active chronic gastritis. It causes more than 90% of duodenal ulcers and up to 80% of gastric ulcers. Current tests for diagnosing H. pylori infection involve histological staining and/or culture of antral biopsy methods. However, these techniques are invasive, and alternative, noninvasive methods such as the urea breath test and serological tests are available. Humasis H.pylori Antigen Test is a rapid immunochromatographic assay for the qualitative determination of H. pylori antigen of all types. It is a presumptive test intended for aiding the diagnosis of H. pylori infections.
